The route of the folk handcraft of the Podlasie region came to existance in 1994 as a idea of Etnography Department of the Museum Podlaskie in Białystok.His main purpose is the protection of the most interesting workshops and folk creativity centres which continue many centurous art traditions and region handcrafts and makes them accessible to tourists and connoisseurs of folk art.
